Plan a week of meals and a shopping list, then try the cart

Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet

For: People who want a meal plan matched to their goals without the planning chore

The poster gave Claude their body stats and goal, answered its follow-up questions and got a week of meals with portions and macros. That became an Excel shopping list. On the Mac app, Claude then tried to fill a supermarket cart from recent orders, but picked wrong products and got stuck. They will keep using it only up to the list.

Steps

  1. Give Claude your goal and let it ask questions before it proposes meals.
  2. Ask for a week of meals with portion sizes, then turn that into a shopping list in a spreadsheet.
  3. The iOS app handled planning and lists. The Mac app was needed for fuller browser control.
  4. If you let it fill a cart, check every item. It chose wrong products and needed repeated prompting.
  5. Check macro numbers against a nutrition label or a dietitian for anything health-related.

Starter prompt

Starter prompt. Change the [brackets] first.

Trial first: plan just [2] dinners and turn them into a mini shopping list, saved in [trial-list]. Show me before you plan the other five.

Help me plan a week of dinners. About me: [goal and any dietary needs]. Ask me your questions first. Then give me seven dinners with portion sizes and rough macros, and explain your numbers. This part only reads and drafts.

When I approve the plan, turn it into a shopping list in a table, grouped by supermarket aisle, and stop there. Stop and wait for my yes before you open a shopping site or add anything to a cart. If I say yes, show me the planned items first, and never check out or enter payment details. A good list is not permission to buy.
