Turn a day of messy meeting notes into a to-do list sorted by urgency
Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet
For: Managers and owners who sit in many meetings and lose action items afterwards
A product manager has Claude Code work inside an Obsidian folder holding raw notes, summaries and tasks. He drops messy notes into the raw folder during the day. At the end of the day Claude writes summaries and gathers all the action items into a single task file, grouped high, medium and low with owners and deadlines. He estimates it saves 30 to 45 minutes a day.
Steps
- Make three folders in your notes app: raw, summaries and tasks.
- Drop unedited notes into raw all day, without tidying.
- At day end, ask Claude Code to write a summary per meeting and collect all action items into one tasks file.
- Give it your own priority rules in the prompt, such as what counts as high, and ask it to add owner and deadline.
- Read the task list before you trust it, and fix wrong owners or dates. The time-saved figures are the author's own estimates.
- Add other routines one at a time, such as a morning plan, once this one works.
Starter prompt
My notes folder has three subfolders: raw (unedited meeting notes), summaries and tasks. Read the files in raw but never edit or delete them. Trial first. Make a copy of the notes folder called [notes-trial], put 3 made-up meeting notes in its raw folder, and run the whole job there. Write trial output only inside [notes-trial]. This job reads and drafts. It changes nothing outside the folders I named. For the real run: for each note in raw dated [today], write a short summary into summaries. Then gather all action items in tasks/active.md, grouped as HIGH, MEDIUM and LOW. My priority rules: [for example HIGH means a deadline within 3 days or something a client is waiting on]. Include the owner and deadline for each item. If either is missing, write 'unknown' rather than guessing. Show me the list and tell me which items you were unsure about. Stop and wait for my yes before saving over an existing tasks file. Showing me the list is not permission to overwrite.
