Let Claude Code label your inbox and draft replies
Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet
For: Founders buried in email who already use Claude Code
With a Gmail MCP server plugged in, Claude Code goes through the founder's mail, tags each message and writes reply drafts. The team added more servers for calendar, chat and notes for a command that prepares context for each meeting tomorrow. They call inbox sorting its most useful non-code job, with no metrics. Every extra tool needs its own server set up and logged in.
Steps
- Install a Gmail MCP server and log in yourself.
- Write down the labels you want and what goes in each.
- Ask Claude Code to label and draft, never send.
- Read the drafts and send the good ones yourself.
- Add calendar or chat servers one at a time, since each needs its own setup.
Starter prompt
Read my unread email from the last [time period]. Propose one label for each message using [label list and rules]. Show me the proposed labels and wait for my approval before applying them. For messages that need a reply, write a draft in my tone, short and direct. Do not send, delete or archive anything. Give me a summary of what you labelled and which drafts are waiting for me.
