Turn student feedback into a checklist and rebuild course materials
Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet
For: Teachers and trainers who want to act on course evaluations
Nick Feamster gave Claude Code his student evaluation PDF, got the main themes, and logged them as a GitHub checklist. Agents then redid assignments with marking guides, made exam rules consistent and moved about 24 slide decks into Quarto, roughly six in parallel. He approved one hand-built sample deck first, then wrote playbooks so new sessions could repeat it in two more courses.
Steps
- Give Claude Code the evaluation file and ask for the main themes.
- Turn the themes into a checklist you can tick off.
- Build one sample deck or assignment by hand and approve it before any bulk work.
- Require a confirmation before every commit or push, and read the diffs.
- Check any facts the agent pulled from the web before they go into course material.
Starter prompt
Read the course evaluation in [file]. Summarise the main themes from student comments, with a count for each. Turn them into a checklist of changes for [course name]. Do not change any course files yet. Then take [one slide deck or assignment] and show me a revised version as a sample. Wait for my approval before applying the same pattern to anything else, and ask me before any commit or push.
