Install a contract review skill to check NDAs and vendor terms
Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet
For: Owners who sign NDAs, SaaS terms and vendor agreements without a lawyer on hand
The author published a free Claude Code skill, with its code open, that reviews contracts. It installs with a git clone into the local skills folder. Their own uses include NDAs, software subscription terms, supplier terms and merchant contracts. The thread gives no examples of issues it caught and no comparison with a lawyer.
Steps
- Read the skill's files before installing, so you know what it does.
- Clone it into your local Claude skills folder as the README describes.
- Start with a contract you already understand to see what it flags.
- Ask it to quote the exact clause for every risk it raises.
- Use a lawyer for anything high value, since the source shows no accuracy checks.
Starter prompt
Review the contract in [file name]. It is a [type of agreement] between my company [company] and [other party]. List the clauses that carry the most risk for me, quoting each clause exactly. For each, explain the risk in plain English and suggest a fairer wording. Point out anything missing that agreements like this usually include. Do not change the original file. This is a first pass, and I will check anything serious with a lawyer.
