Collect stats for every post from a dashboard that has no connector
Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet
For: Writers who want all their post figures in one report without copying them by hand
Charlie Hills set up the Computer Use plugin in Codex and gave it screen recording and accessibility access on his Mac. With his Substack dashboard open, he asked it to go through every page of published posts and write the figures into a report with today's date, check the count against the dashboard total, and leave posts and subscriber details alone. It saved 122 posts and matched the count again on a rerun.
Steps
- Install the Computer Use plugin and grant only the permissions it asks for.
- Open the dashboard yourself so the agent starts on the right page.
- Tell it to read only, and not to edit posts or open subscriber details.
- Ask it to compare its post count with the dashboard total.
- Remember lifetime totals favour older posts, so treat them as a pointer, not proof.
Starter prompt
My [platform] dashboard is open in [browser]. Read the list of all my published posts across every page. For each post, record the title, date and the figures shown: [list of figures]. Save them to a dated file called [file name]. Check that your count matches the total shown on the dashboard and tell me if it does not. Read only. Do not edit, delete or publish any post, and do not open subscriber or payment pages.
