Build a company research pack and memo from public reports
Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet
For: Private investors who want a structured memo and model for a stock they follow
The author gave Cowork a local folder and had it set up a folder per company. It downloaded Adyen's reports, transcripts and market data, then wrote an overview, a spreadsheet model with comparables and a three case DCF, a memo on the thesis, plus a single page summary. It took under 15 minutes. It also set up a weekly update task and turned the process into a reusable skill.
Steps
- Create an empty folder for research and give Cowork access to it only.
- Ask it to propose a folder structure and the list of files it will make, then approve the plan.
- Check that the filings and transcripts actually downloaded, since commenters say this often fails.
- Read the model's assumptions yourself before trusting any valuation.
- Save the steps as a skill and set a weekly update, keeping in mind the computer must be on.
Starter prompt
Research [company name] for me in the folder [folder path]. First show me your plan: which public reports, transcripts and market data you will collect, and which files you will create. Wait for my OK. Then write a business overview, a simple Excel model with three scenarios, a thesis memo with key risks, and a one-page summary. Cite the source document for every number. Tell me clearly if any download failed. This is research only, not a buy or sell decision.
