Give Claude a feature plan and review its draft at pull request time
Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet
For: Developers who want to hand off whole features instead of single functions
A commenter moved from asking about single files to giving Claude a feature plan and letting it work without watching each line. Claude reads and writes code until a draft is ready for review, and the human only steps in at pull request review on GitHub. They start the next task while one runs.
Steps
- Write a short feature plan with the goal, the files involved and what done looks like.
- Paste the starter prompt and let it work on a branch.
- Review the full draft at pull request time, since you will not have watched each line.
- Run the tests yourself before merging.
Starter prompt
Here is a feature plan: [goal, files involved, what done looks like]. Read the related code in [repo] first and tell me your approach in a few lines. Then work on branch [branch name] until the feature is done and the tests in [test command] pass. Open a draft pull request with a summary of the changes and anything you are unsure about. Do not merge.
