Mark anonymised student work against a mark scheme and plan lessons
Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet
For: Teachers who want help with marking and lesson prep without risking student privacy
A teacher set up one Claude Project per course, loaded with exam board materials, past papers, examples and lesson files. For marking, work was scanned with names taken off and a number on each paper, and Claude read it against the mark scheme and examples to write personal feedback.
Steps
- Make one project per course with the specification, mark schemes and examples.
- Remove names from student work and label each paper with a number only.
- Paste the starter prompt and check feedback on a few papers yourself.
- Keep the final mark decision for yourself.
- On a new Windows PC, allow time to turn on the virtual machine settings Cowork needs.
Starter prompt
Use the mark scheme and example answers in this project for [course and paper]. I am uploading [number] student papers. Each is labelled by number only, with no names. For each paper, suggest a mark with the reasons tied to the mark scheme, two things done well and two things to improve. Show me the first two before doing the rest. Mark any answer you found hard to read. These are suggestions. I will set the final marks.
