Find weak ads in a CSV and write new headline and description variants

Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet

For: Marketers who refresh Google Ads copy often and want a repeatable process

A summary of Anthropic's own write-up describes Claude Code reading a CSV of past ads, filtering for ads with a low click-through rate and enough impressions, and using two sub-agents to write headlines and descriptions within length limits. The results are saved as a CSV, marked for a gradual rollout and a human check.

Steps

  1. Export your past ads and their results as a CSV.
  2. Paste the starter prompt and set your own cut-offs for weak ads.
  3. Before anything is uploaded, check lengths, line breaks and any legal wording.
  4. Tag each variant with a test ID so you can see which one worked.
  5. Have a person check brand voice and compliance before anything goes live.

Starter prompt

Starter prompt. Change the [brackets] first.

Read [ads.csv], which has past ads and their results.

1. List ads with click-through rate below [number] and more than [number] impressions.
2. For each, write [number] new headlines (max 30 characters) and descriptions (max 90 characters).
3. Save them to [new file].csv with a test ID column and a status of 'needs review'.

Check every character count. Do not invent claims or numbers. Keep everything local and leave the ad account untouched.
