Build a personal contact database that fills itself in
Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet
For: Founders and freelancers who meet many people and forget the details
The author linked Claude to a Supabase database through an MCP that exposes four actions: look up, add, change and remove. Give it a name and a LinkedIn link and it follows a written workflow, fetches role, company, history and skills from Harmonic, and adds Granola meeting notes that name the person. A full profile appears in seconds.
Steps
- Start with a free database and a table with columns you actually use, like name, role, company, notes.
- Write the workflow in a plain markdown file, for example: given a name and URL, look up X and save Y.
- Test with three people you know and compare the stored profile with what you know is true.
- Take care with permissions. Start with insert and query and add update and delete only when you trust it.
- Ask it to list people from your meeting notes who are not saved yet, and review before it adds anyone.
Starter prompt
Trial first: set up a scratch table called [trial_contacts] and test with [3] sample contacts I know. Do not touch any real contact table until I say yes. Help me set up a personal contact database in Supabase, using a small table with name, role, company, LinkedIn URL and notes. Then write a workflow file in plain markdown that says what to do when I give you a name and a LinkedIn URL: look up public profile details from [enrichment tool], add meeting notes that name the person, and save one row. Show me the table layout and the workflow before you create anything. Stop and wait for my yes before every update or delete, and before you add anyone found in my meeting notes. Showing me the result is not permission. Do not ask me to paste database passwords into this chat.
