Have Cowork shortlist car dealers and handle the first emails

Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet

For: Car buyers who dread contacting dealer after dealer

Margot asked Claude Cowork to build a sheet of dealerships matching her criteria. It then wrote and sent enquiries, filled in website contact forms and managed the replies, and replying again when dealers asked more questions. Several dealers sent inventory details within an hour. Her first run used an email address she did not expect.

Steps

  1. List your must-haves: model, budget range, area and deal-breakers.
  2. Tell Cowork exactly which email account it may send from. Its first run sent from a different address.
  3. Ask it to build the dealer sheet first and show it to you before any email goes out.
  4. Add: skip any dealer where you get stuck and move on to the next.
  5. Read every reply yourself before you agree to a price, a visit or a deposit.

Starter prompt

Starter prompt. Change the [brackets] first.

Trial first: build the dealer sheet for [3] dealers only, and send the one test enquiry to my own second address, [my test address], not to a dealer.

Help me shop for a [car type] in [city]. My must-haves: [list]. My limits: [budget range and deal-breakers]. First build a spreadsheet of dealerships that fit, with the source for each. Show it to me and wait. Then draft a short enquiry email and show me the draft.

Stop and wait for my yes before each email or contact form goes to a real dealer. Showing me the sheet or draft is not permission to send. Send only from [my email account]. If a dealer's form or page gets you stuck, skip it and note it. Never agree to a price, visit or deposit for me, and do not enter payment details anywhere.
