Draft a weekly newsletter from your latest posts and schedule it after approval

Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet

For: Writers and owners who mean to send a newsletter every week but often skip it

Sid wrote a Claude Code skill that, on a /newsletter command, finds posts from the last 7 days, drafts a short email in his voice and waits for his approval. It then creates the broadcast in Kit through its API and schedules it. A run takes about two minutes.

Steps

  1. Write a short voice guide for your newsletter.
  2. Keep your email platform API key in a local env file, never in chat.
  3. Turn the starter prompt into a Claude Code skill.
  4. Read and approve every draft before it is scheduled.
  5. Note what your platform's API cannot do. In this case Kit could not create forms or sequences.

Starter prompt

Starter prompt. Change the [brackets] first.

Read my voice guide at [voice-guide.md]. Find posts from my site published in the last 7 days in [content folder or index].

Draft a short newsletter: a subject line, a two-line intro and a short blurb plus link for each post.

Show me the draft and wait for my approval. Only after I say yes, create the email in [email platform] as a draft scheduled for [day and time]. Never print the API key. Tell me the scheduled time when done.
