Have Claude Code build, open and click through your Mac app to spot layout bugs

Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet

For: Mac app developers who keep finding layout problems after release

Once the computer-use tool is on and macOS permissions are granted, Claude Code compiles the app, launches it, clicks around the windows and resizes them to bring out layout faults. It captures screenshots and checks the code to propose a fix. The developer allows each app once per session.

Steps

  1. Check you meet the needs listed: a Pro or Max plan, a recent Claude Code and an open macOS session.
  2. Turn on computer use through /mcp and grant Accessibility and Screen Recording.
  3. Close any apps or files where a wrong click could do harm.
  4. Paste the starter prompt and approve only your own app.
  5. Check its suggested fixes in code review. This is a research preview, so behaviour can change.

Starter prompt

Starter prompt. Change the [brackets] first.

Show me the testing plan and wait for my approval before controlling the app. Use a test account and test data only. Do not send messages, make purchases, delete records or change live settings.

Build my Mac app [app name] with [build command], then open it.

Click through each main window and resize them to small, medium and large sizes. Take a screenshot when something looks wrong, such as text cut off or overlapping views.

For each problem, tell me the window, the size, what is wrong and the likely code location. Suggest a fix but do not change code until I approve. Only control my app, not any other app on this Mac.
