Filter a company list down to good-fit prospects
Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet
For: B2B sellers who pull big company lists and waste time on poor fits
The poster pulls a wide company list, then feeds it to a sorting tool made with Claude Code. It reads each company's site and marks it yes or no against their ideal customer. Only the yes companies return to their sales tool to find contacts.
Steps
- Write a short description of your ideal customer with clear yes and no rules.
- Export a test list of 20 companies.
- Paste the starter prompt and check every yes and no on the test list yourself.
- Tighten the rules where it got things wrong, then run the full list.
- Import only the yes companies into your sales tool.
Starter prompt
Help me build a small tool that checks if companies fit my ideal customer. My ideal customer: [describe industry, size, location and signs of fit]. Clear no signs: [list]. The tool should read each company's public website from [CSV file] and add two columns: fit (yes or no) and one line of reason with the page it used. Test on the first [20] rows and show me the results before running the rest. Do not contact anyone or upload the list anywhere.
