Build your own report-writing tool for a niche job without coding
Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet
For: Professionals with repetitive report work who could not explain it to outside developers
A property appraiser in South Korea with no coding background used Claude Code to build a program that writes appraisal reports. It took about two months of trial and error. It cut much of the repeated report work, and the firm looked set to make it official.
Steps
- Write down your report process step by step, including where each number comes from.
- Collect two old reports as examples, with private client details removed.
- Paste the starter prompt and build one section of the report first.
- Check each section against a report you wrote by hand.
- Expect many rounds of fixes and budget for a paid plan.
Starter prompt
I write [type of report] reports for my job. I do not code. Help me build a small program that fills in the repeated parts. Here is how I work today: [describe the steps and where each piece of data comes from]. Example reports with private details removed are in [folder]. First, ask me questions until you understand the process. Then propose a plan that builds one section at a time. Use only fake or cleaned data while testing. Show me each section's output before moving on.
