Describe a newsletter dashboard in plain words and have it built

Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet

For: Newsletter owners who cannot code and want their numbers in one view

The author, who does not write code, described a dashboard to track newsletter performance across their network. Claude Code built a working tool from that description in the terminal. The source does not say which data it used or how the result was checked.

Steps

  1. Export your newsletter stats as CSV files from your email platform.
  2. Write a short list of the numbers you want to see on one screen.
  3. Paste the starter prompt in Claude Code inside a new project folder.
  4. Check three numbers on the dashboard against your email platform by hand.
  5. Keep the project folder so you can add new exports later.

Starter prompt

Starter prompt. Change the [brackets] first.

Build a simple local dashboard for my newsletter stats. The data is in [folder with CSV exports].

I want to see: [for example, subscribers over time, open rate per issue, clicks per issue, top issues] for each newsletter.

First tell me what you found in the files and your plan for the dashboard. Then build it so it runs on my computer only. Do not connect to any online account. When done, show me how to open it and list any numbers you could not work out from the data.
