Turn travel booking emails into calendar entries from one folder
Idea + starter prompt, not run by us yet
For: People who travel often and copy flight and hotel details into their calendar by hand
The author keeps one named folder for this job, with saved scripts and notes inside. They open Claude Code in that folder, say a new booking email has come in, and it adds the trip to the calendar. Old sessions can be reopened with /resume.
Steps
- Make one folder just for travel bookings and give it a clear name you will remember.
- Ask Claude Code to write a short README in that folder that explains how a booking should land in your calendar.
- Open Claude Code inside the folder and paste the starter prompt with one real booking email.
- Check the preview of the calendar entry against the email before you let it save anything.
- Keep any script it writes in the same folder so the next booking runs the same way.
Starter prompt
You are working inside my travel bookings folder. Read the README and any scripts here first. A new booking email has arrived: [paste the booking email or say where it is saved]. Pull out the dates, times, time zones, booking reference and address. Show me the calendar entry you plan to create as a preview. Do not add anything to [my calendar app] until I say yes. If a script in this folder already does part of this, use it and tell me which one. Never ask me for passwords in this chat.
